For newcomers we offer internationally recognised certifications in SCUBA diving from beginners to full blown rescue courses. Whatever you’re up for, you will find it at Durban Undersea Club.


Spearfishing is an ancient method of fishing that’s practiced all over the world.

Today, it’s still one of the most preferred and eco-friendly methods of acquiring fresh and nutritious seafood as it doesn’t require weapons or other dangerous instruments that can cause water pollution. Best of all, it can be a lot of fun!


DUC is home to a fun, highly social and active Underwater Hockey Club. Come learn how to play ‘Octopush’ with our club members and discover just how engaging this relatively new sport is.

Originally invented as a way to keep a swim club members active during England’s Winter, it has now become a sport with international appeal with yearly championships held around the world.


Underwater photography is an expensive, challenging but extremely rewarding hobby.

It requires a specific skill set to dive, not get lost and at the same time put yourself in the space of most opportunity – And after all that – get the image you are after!

DUC Underwater Photographic section caters for all levels of underwater photographers. We organise photo dives, dive trips as well as “how to talks” at the club.

The DUC Shootout is South Africa’s premier underwater photographic competition with international judges and incredible prizes! The competition is run annually and is organised by the club. The competition shooting period is over 6 months and is open to all levels of photographer, from NOVICE to PRO.

The club has over the years, established strong relationships with photographic suppliers and top international and local photographers. In this way, the DUC underwater photographic club is a portal to invaluable tips and information about techniques, equipment together with preferential pricing!

Any trips, dives, talks or workshops are advertised to members and non – members through FB and email newsletter – so be sure to like DUC FB page and ensure you are on the DUC mailing list.


Whether a leisurely cruise out on your fishing boat or a blood-pumping ride on your Jetski we have you covered, our friendly, fully trained staff are able to assist you in all areas of maintaining your craft and our office can assist you with permits, skipper’s courses and launching your boat.

We also have a tractor on-site to assist with launches.


DUC is a recognised Canoe South Africa (CSA) club and members can take part in CSA sanctioned events wearing the club colours.

Although members paddle daily, every Tuesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning (conditions permitting) – organised club dices and social paddles are enjoyed by active members.

These paddles are very popular and well supported by all levels of paddler from absolute beginner to champions – so don’t be shy – feel free to join in on the paddles without invitation.


We have a friendly community of Fishing Ski enthusiasts at the club and with Durban’s excellent variety of fish, it’s no wonder why.

Enjoy your day out on the ocean and once you’ve caught your quota come back to the club and have a drink and trade tales with with the club members and maybe cook one or two of the fish you’ve caught.


A true outdoorsman’s activity, sailing is a pastime which is infinitely rewarding and true mastery of it is hard-won.

Our group of trained employees and our large group of veteran members will be happy to help or advise you should you require assistance or have a chat with you about your latest sailing adventure at the Club Restaurant.


Stand up paddle surfing and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is an offshoot of surfing that originated in Hawaii.

The sport was documented in a 2013 report that identified it as the outdoor sporting activity with the most first-time participants worldwide that year.

Variations include flat water paddling for outdoor recreation, fitness, or sightseeing, racing on lakes, large rivers and canals, surfing on ocean waves, paddling in river rapids (whitewater SUP), Paddle board yoga and even fishing.


Waterpolo is a sport requiring huge amounts of stamina, drive and quick thinking. Our team is a group of tight-knit individuals always looking for new members to keep them as strong as possible.

Whether you were a first team player at school or an absolute beginner, come and join the team for a friendly practice and see what all the fuss is about.
